Our Mission

The Story Behind Respire Australia: Where Passion Meets Breath
Susan Brumby didn’t just see patients—she saw people fighting for every breath.
As a physiotherapist with over a decade of experience in ICU wards, neurological rehab, and complex respiratory care, Susan witnessed firsthand how often breathing was taken for granted—until it wasn’t.
Frustrated by the lack of specialised support, she pioneered Tasmania’s first dedicated Respiratory Physiotherapy practice, turning a gap in care into a mission: to give people back the power of breath.
From elite athletes chasing peak performance to individuals battling COPD, MND, or spinal cord injuries, Susan knew one truth—better breathing changes lives. Her innovative techniques and relentless advocacy have taken her from hospital bedsides to international stages, including the MND Conference in Switzerland, where she shared her groundbreaking insights.
Today, she leads Respire Australia with the same unwavering belief: no one should struggle for air when solutions exist. Partnering with organisations like Motor Neurone Disease Tasmania, ParaQuad Tasmania, and Muscular Dystrophy Tasmania, she ensures that every product we create isn’t just effective—it’s life-changing.
Because to Susan, breathing isn’t just physiology. It’s freedom.
